Khao Sok was one of the highlights of the trip — raw rainforest, noisy wildlife and proper adventure. We planned for the lake but wild elephant sightings changed our plans, which only gave the park a wilder feel.

What We Did

• Full day jungle trek through humid forest with swimming stops in rivers.
• Spotted monkeys, birds, lizards and even snakes.
• Nighttime karaoke that got uncomfortably competitive.

The heat was relentless but the scenery and the wildlife more than made up for it. I left wanting to return to see the lake when conditions allow.
